Preserving the Legacies of Rion Morgan and James Dunlop
The Goal
To preserve their legacies, friends and family are raising funds to establish an endowed student scholarship in Rion and James’ names. The Rion Morgan and James Dunlop Scholarship in Technology and Engineering will support full-time students seeking an undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM).
Reaching our goal of at least $25,000 will ensure that the Rion Morgan and James Dunlop Memorial Student Scholarship Fund will provide much-needed student support in perpetuity.
We only need $4,040 to reach our goal!
About Rion Morgan
Rion Christopher Morgan BS ‘08 never met a stranger and was always the most enthusiastic person in a group. Rion loved new adventures, experiences, and people, and his passion for life was exhibited everyday during his career as UTD Help Desk Manager. He instilled values of generosity, kindness, and ambition in those he mentored.
After graduating from UTD, Rion decided to make UTD his career as well. He was passionate about making sure things got done correctly for all those involved and teaching those that looked up to him. His loss on September 10, 2017 was devastating to all who were lucky enough to have been part of his short, but fulfilling life.
About James Dunlop
James Dunlop BSEE’11, MSEE’15 had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was always researching and exploring and was regularly characterized by those close to him as the smartest person they knew. James was dedicated to his position at L3 and used his free time to travel, cheer on his favorite football teams, and spend time with family and friends who loved him dearly.
James and Rion met and worked at the UTD Help Desk as students, and both had a passion for the innovative use of technology to solve modern issues. Tragically, Rion and James both passed away on Sept. 10, 2017, along with three other UTD graduates.
