The University of Texas at Dallas is committed to making postsecondary success possible for first generation scholars. Far too many low-income students do not have access to quality public education. The Retention Scholarship targets high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors as well as college undergraduate students who excel academically but have unmet need after their financial aid has been awarded. Retention Scholarships are used to cover education-related expenses, including textbooks, summer classes, housing, and tuition. When paired with public funds, the Retention Scholarship improves enrollment, allows need-based scholars to perform on par with peers, and supports the successful completion a college education.
