One of the greatest challenges of this new century is the development of highly technical solutions to medical conditions. The Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas is poised to meet this challenge through cutting edge research and education at the intersection of engineering, biology, chemistry and medicine. Students and faculty take an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach to biomedical engineering that combines expertise in electrical, mechanical and materials engineering coupled with mathematics and life sciences. Joint research and academic programs with UT Southwestern enable students and faculty to work with clinicians to develop and implement the latest biomedical advances.
Areas of research expertise include bio imaging, biomaterials, biomechanics, biosensors and bioelectronics, neural engineering, and systems biology. Students may pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees.
