With nearly 3,600 students, the Computer Science Department is the fourth largest CS Department in the US. It is home to world-renowned researchers whose work in natural language processing, software engineering and real-time systems puts us among the top ten in the nation in these areas. Just in the fall 2017 semester alone, five of our professors and their students won best paper awards at prestigious research conferences, while two of our professors won the prestigious NSF CAREER award, bringing the total of NSF CAREER award winners among our faculty to fifteen.
The CS Department has launched many new programs recently, including the CS2 Honors program, the CS Mentor Center that helps students build strong foundations in beginning courses in CS, as well as an outreach program in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to teach coding to K-12 students. With several thousand students reached, this program has grown to possibly become the largest university-based CS outreach program in the US. We train our graduates well, and they are highly regarded for their deep technical knowledge of computing and sought after by major companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, IBM, and others.
We invite you to donate generously to help us in our efforts to propel the Computer Science Department to ever-greater heights.
