The mission of the Department of Computer Science is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for productive careers in industry, academia, and government by providing an outstanding environment for teaching, learning, and research in the theory and applications of computing. The Department places high priority on establishing and maintaining innovative research programs to enhance its education quality and make it an important regional, national and international resource center for discovering, integrating and applying new knowledge and technologies.
The CS Department continues to excel, with very high rankings in area of AI & natural language processing, software engineering, cyber security and systems (csrankings.org).

CS K12 Outreach
We strongly believe that it is possible to introduce Computer programming to all school students in an enjoyable way and enable them to consider higher education & career in STEM fields. Your support of CS K12 Outreach programs funds operations of afterschool and weekend coding clubs, and summer camps for elementary, middle and high school students to teach coding in a fun, hands-on manner.
Dr. Gopal Gupta Fellowship in Computer Science
To attract the world’s top scholars in computer science, the Jonsson School is establishing the Dr. Gopal Gupta Fellowship in Computer Science to support incoming master’s students. This one-year fellowship will support students who have not received a teaching or research assistantship. Make your gift to this fund in honor of long-term department head, Dr. Gopal Gupta.

Dr. Gopal Gupta Undergraduate Scholarship for Computer Science established by ACM 2020
