The purpose of Women in STEAM LLC is to help women retain in historically under represented degree programs/professions. This new living learning community will launch in fall 2017. Twenty-eight (28) sophomore through senior level women will participate in this program. We would be seeking funds for the following:
1.Outreach/Mentoring: each student participating in the Women in STEAM LLC will be doing 10 hours of service per semester. The majority of this outreach will be conducted in middle and high school programs to educate and excite young female students about careers in STEAM fields. Funds collected will be used to purchase project supplies.
2.Team Building: community development is a core objective for the Women in STEAM LLC. Research shows that developing a strong sense of community leads to retention. Funds collected would help fund a retreat for this purpose.
3.Housing Scholarships: Women in STEAM participants are required to live on campus. Funds collected will be used to provide housing stipends/scholarships for those students in need.
