Student Volunteerism

Our Mission

Founded in 2009, the Office of Student Volunteerism is committed to enriching the lives of students by educating them on and connecting them to, the needs of their campus community, and communities across the country and around the world.

Our Vision

To empower UT Dallas students to become life-long, actively engaged global leaders who seek to understand, respond, and advocate for community issues and needs.

Your Gift will support the following projects:

-OSV Student Leadership Program, providing professional development and civic engagement opportunities for student leaders.

-Alternative Spring Break Program scholarships for students in need.

-New service and community outreach events, including advocacy, awareness, and social justice initiatives

The Office of Student Volunteerism (OSV) provides group volunteer opportunities and service projects for UT Dallas. Each year, the OSV partners with over 70 nonprofit agencies and community groups in providing more than 100 service opportunities for UT Dallas students. Through the OSV, 4,779 Comets completed 8,894 service hours during the 2015-2016 academic year. In a span of one year, Comets donated an estimated dollar value amount of $219,344 toward improving communities.

Whether through volunteering across the country during Alternative Spring Break, or hosting service events and beautification efforts around the UT Dallas and the community, the office empowers students to grow as leaders. T

he OSV’s effect is summed up best by one of its student leaders, Lynn: “Volunteering is amazing in that it has a butterfly effect. No matter what you do, others can be inspired by your words and actions to serve in their own way. In turn, their service inspires other and this mentality continues to spread forever.”
