Chess Team

Whether chess team members come from Lithuania or Zambia, India or Poland, they are united by the universal language of “checkmate.” The team represents a global community dedicated to chess excellence: Twenty-four Grandmasters (GMs) and International Masters (IMs) have played for UT Dallas since the program’s inception in 1996. Winning outright or tying for first place in 10 Pan American Intercollegiate Championships, the chess team is a considerable force in collegiate play.

The UT Dallas Chess Team is coached by International Master Rade Milovanovic, co-champion of the 2008 U.S. Open Championship. With consistent achievement and guidance from a knowledgeable staff, the chess team is the most-recognized competitive group on campus.
