The Center for Vital Longevity (CVL) was founded in 2010 at The University of Texas at Dallas by the distinguished cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Denise Park, who is now the director of research. Dr. Michael Rugg, a renowned researcher in memory and aging, joined CVL in 2011 and serves as center director.
Since its inception, CVL has grown rapidly to become an internationally recognized research center focused on the study of the aging mind and brain. Center scientists combine brain imaging technology and cognitive science to discover new ways to maintain a healthy mind for life. They are identifying the benchmarks of a healthy brain and successful cognitive aging, and identifying the characteristics of the earliest stages of Alzheimer's disease.
With six research labs, CVL is home to numerous graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who play key roles in center research and are training to become leading scientists in their own right. Help us shape and strengthen their futures by supporting the center’s Fellowship Fund!
Fellowship Fund – Provides research and travel support for CVL's graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to communicate their research findings and to learn new skills and methods. In addition to publishing their research findings in scientific literature, center scientists present the findings in talks and at national and international conferences, collaborating and networking with peers and gaining advice from experts.
