Support Service
QuTD, the LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and ally employee resource group, intends to host a service event to make “power pack” hygiene kits for distribution to homeless youth throughout Dallas by the Promise House Street Outreach Program. Your donation will purchase toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, and face wipes for the hygiene kits.
According to Promise House, “more than 3,500 youth throughout the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) experienced housing instability in 2017, because of barriers caused by unstable living situations these youth are more likely to repeat a grade and five times more likely to drop out, according to Texas Education Agency, and without intervention, these youth will become the next generation of chronically homeless, as research shows that 40% of chronically homeless adults were either in foster care or homeless as youth.” QuTD is committed to being a positive representation of the UT Dallas community through service. Help QuTD support Promise House’s efforts to embrace abused, neglected, and homeless youth, giving them the support they need to live a better life.
