The UTDesign Makerspace is a free resource that provides students, faculty, staff, and alumni access to equipment for 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Virtual Reality, Digital Design, Embroidery, Crafting, and more! The Makerspace provides a convenient and preferred meeting place for a variety of student organizations from game development to aeronautics/astronautics, combat robotics to cosplay, and everything in between!
Goal # 1 $3,800 - Four new computers for Lab
The four new computers will be tool computers for operating our 3D printers, laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and CNC router. These computers will greatly improve the experience and convenience of all members of the makerspace. With $3,800, we’ll be able to purchase 4 new computers capable of smoothly running the latest software suites our students and organizations depend on. These computers will help assure that all students have access to modern equipment without a financial barrier of entry to explore and expand their skillsets.
Goal # 2: $3,800 - Replace additional 4 old computers for student work stations
The eight replacement computers will be used to run CAD software (ex. Solidworks) and game development software (ex. Unreal Engine 5) to support organizations like AIAA and SGDA respectively, as they currently need to bring their own computers or find ones elsewhere to run the intense software relevant to their org. Makerspace members will assemble all the new PC's to keep costs low and ensure that they are optimized for student's needs.
Goal # 3: $700 Acquire in-house Dye Sublimation
With an additional $700 we’ll be able to expand the resources of the UTDesign Makerspace to include Dye Sublimation, giving students the ability to create their own customized t-shirts, mugs, tumblers, mousepads, hats, etc.
Thank you!
