Who we are
The Teach-In Series organizes events on relevant and timely issues, bridging the expertise of UTD students, staff, and faculty, along with guest scholars, community leaders, and artists. Together, panelists at each event share their expertise to inspire educational growth across the UTD community. Since 2020, the Teach-In series has hosted dozens of events on topics including "Confronting Asian American Discrimination and Violence," "The History of Racism and White Supremacy in Urban Texas," "Equity and Internships," and much more.
What we're fundraising for
To compensate the time and expertise of event contributors, The Teach-In Series provides honoraria for our contributors. When you donate to the Teach-In Series, you are funding the speakers who make these events truly transformative across campus. This funding allows us to invite cutting-edge scholars and researchers; to recognize the expertise of contributing staff members; and to provide professional development support for the undergraduate and graduate students who present their research and creative work at the Teach-Ins.
Our Impact
The Teach-In Series is a beloved campus resource that sparks conversation among campus members who don't necessarily have the opportunity to think together on campus. Together, we forge community across schools and multiple campus roles. The guest scholars, community leaders, and artists consistently deliver rigorous and high-quality presentations. And these events provide a uniquely empowering platform for contributing staff and students to share their expertise about an issue that is meaningful for them.
Students, especially, love the Teach-In series. Here are just a few notes from students' feedback:
"This event was so powerful and made me look at things from a different point of view."
"Where do I begin? I loved this meeting. I feel as though I have been very ignorant to this whole topic for a very long time."
"I like the idea of Teach-ins as they are a great way for students to gain exposure to different ideas and topics!"
"As far as teach-ins, I think that they are amazing! It really is a nice way for people to learn and to spread awareness/make a difference."
