Who we are
Originally established as UTD Motorsports, our organization was created in 2014 by a small group of students looking to compete in the Formula SAE competition. In 2018, we rebranded as Dallas Formula Racing and competed for the first time at a competition under our new name. Since then, we have designed and fabricated a Formula One-style racecar every year. Our student-led team has grown exponentially, and we now have around 80+ active members with 11 sub-teams.
What we do
By competing in Formula SAE, we are tasked with designing, fabricating, and driving a formula-style racecar. While it may appear that our organization is centered around racing and motorsports, that is far from the truth. Competing in Formula SAE provides our members with an unrivaled learning opportunity that allows them to apply what is taught in classrooms.
Our team is comprised of a diverse array of different majors, backgrounds, and skillsets. These differences become common ground and a strong sense of teamwork forms the core of our team. The finished racecar is a testament to our hard work, perseverance, and knowledge. However, our team is most proud of the growth that we’ve made in terms of character, maturity, and leadership.
"Seeing everybody grow as people through their time with DFR is magical. We really try to have a positive impact on everybody in terms of their technical skills but knowing that our organization has a long lasting impact aside from their education or career is rewarding." - Rayyan S.
Our Impact
We need your help to take our 2024 vehicle to the next level - with recent changes in the competition we are mandated to build a new vehicle each year. This requires a large effort from our members, sponsors, and alumni. Your contributions will directly benefit the education of our members and build a foundation for our future. We thank you for all your help.
Thank you!
