UTDesign EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) is the first service-learning design program at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. EPICS connects undergraduate students, who need real-world design experience, with community organizations, who need new and innovative technologies to better serve their communities. The work of our students directly benefits non-profit organizations both locally and globally. Together our students, faculty and non-profit leaders work to ensure a lasting positive impact on the world.
Since its inception in 2016, EPICS has impacted more than 45 nonprofits and thousands of people across Texas and other countries by working on over 55 projects.
Goal #1: $4,000 to upgrade Studio Computers and software
Our students’ needs evolve rapidly as technology advances. With your support we can provide a major upgrade to the computers available to all EPICS students, these new computers will allow our students to work more efficiently and access more advanced software to complete their projects in our new studio.
Goal # 2: $1,000 to purchase new soldering tools for the Studio
Our students fabricate their projects in person and are limited by the available and aging tools. With your support we can replace older equipment and add additional tools that students have requested that are beyond the ordinary tools available at the studio.
Unique Opportunity made possible by L3Harris: $5,000
L3Harris will donate an additional $5,000 to EPICS if we can achieve both goals on Comets Giving Day and provide additional funding for more equipment for the studio. This will raise our total impact on Giving Days to $10,000 to provide a significant upgrade to the new EPICS studio and the experience of our students!
Thank you for enhancing the EPICS Studio and making a lasting impact for our students!
