Who are we
The Galerstein Gender Center, under the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, is a campus resource that fosters an affirming and inclusive environment by advocating for LGBTQ+ and gender equity through diversity initiatives of education, advocacy, programs, and services. Our office is located in the Student Services Building, SSS 4.300, and is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
What we're fundraising for
This Comets Giving Day, the GGC is fundraising for our Life Transitions Closet. First opened in the fall of 2022, the mission of the Life Transitions Closet is to provide UT Dallas students and employees with the clothes, shoes, and accessories they need to navigate whatever life transitions they experience, including gender transitions, loss or gain of employment, pregnancy or birth, and more.
Donations may be used to purchase the following: shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, jewelry and accessories, binders, new undergarments, new socks, new bathing suits, new bras, new bra inserts, wigs, and makeup. Additionally, donations will support more permanent furniture and storage for the space.
Our impact
The Life Transitions Closet provides gently used clothes, shoes, and accessories at no cost to students and employees experiencing a life transition, including (but not limited to): gender identity and gender-affirming self-expression, new job, pregnancy and birth, and loss of clothes due to extreme events (e.g., storm, flooding, fire).
Supporting the Galerstein Gender Center helps in achieving our goals of advancing gender access and equity, creating a sense of community on campus, and promoting a supportive academic environment for all Comets. Your gift can influence and promote the success of women and LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty on campus and in the community.
