The Office of Graduate Education is establishing an emergency fund for graduate students, prompted by findings from a university-wide basic needs survey conducted in 22-23.
Nearly a fourth (24.2%) of graduate student respondents said if faced with an emergency expense of $400, they would not be able to pay for it. At OGE, we know how financial emergencies can derail academic progress and cause undue stress for students. We hope this new fund will provide a safety net for graduate students who find themselves faced with an unexpected financial setback. This is a tangible way to help graduate students make progress and complete their degrees. Please join us in our efforts and help provide the funding the help minimize the detrimental effects of financial setbacks on grad student degree progress and success!
