The UTDesign Makerspace is a free resource that provides students, faculty, staff, and alumni access to equipment for 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Virtual Reality, Digital Design, Embroidery, Crafting, and more! The Makerspace provides a convenient and preferred meeting place for a variety of student organizations from game development to aeronautics/astronautics, combat robotics to cosplay, and everything in between!
Goal #1 - $800 for a Prusa MK4
Currently, Makerspace uses older 3D printing hardware which is prone to easily breaking and constantly needing repairs. We aim to replace our entire 3D printing setup with Prusa printers by the end of Spring 2024. By funding a Prusa MK4, we will be able to have our entire printer farm be composed of printers with excellent quality and customer support, cutting down on repair times and improving our availability for students!
Goal #2 - $1100 for a Prusa MK4 w/ Multi-Material Upgrade
Makerspace only has one multi-material printer and its quality is very poor. By adding a multi-material upgrade (MMU3), members will be able to print with multiple materials, like soluble supports and parts with both flexible and solid segments!
Goal #3 - $1850 for a Prusa MK4 w/ MMU3 AND a Creality K1 Max
Creality's K1 Max 3D printer is an insanely fast enclosed 3D printer with a large size. Though it can require a bit more maintenance, the K1 Max can run as fast as multiple of our printers combined! This printer would be great for both rapid prototyping and larger prints, such as cosplay parts.
Thank you!
