Who we are
Geared toward high-performing students who didn’t receive a university-track curriculum, the Academic Bridge Program (ABP) helps high-potential, first-generation college students complete a college education.
The program provides advising, mentoring and tutoring to students making the transition from high school to college.
High school students who are selected for ABP begin their college career at UT Dallas during the summer following their high school graduation.
Established in 2000, ABP serves approximately 160 students each year. Most come from urban neighborhoods in the Dallas area and are the first in their families to attend college. The program boasts a graduation rate of approximately 70 percent — well above state and national averages and competitive with the rates of the best universities in Texas.
What we're fundraising for
Academic Bridge Program continues to be a great resource for high-potential, first-generation college students at UT Dallas. The money that we raise will continue to help these students achieve success through our proven programs.
Our impact
All students deserve to have the opportunities and resources to be successful. The students that participate in the Academic Bridge Program are community changers. They become not only more confident and equipped themselves, but they also inspire generations from similar backgrounds to believe and succeed.
