The Women’s Volleyball Club is open to all students attending UTD, regardless of their experience level. We currently hold practices two times a week, and each practice is planned and held by the officer team. This year our officer team consists of Tori Leger, president, Carson Pennington, secretary, and Cathy Li, treasurer.
Since we’re open to anyone who wants to come and play volleyball, we are beginner friendly. Additionally, we have a competitive option for those who have playing experience and are looking to continue playing at a high level without the stress of being a student athlete. In the fall semester, we travel around Texas and attend 3-4 club-hosted tournaments. We also host our own annual Comet Classic Tournament and invite other Texas universities. In the spring semester, we play in SIVA league-sanctioned tournaments along with the NCVF Nationals.
Our biggest fundraising priority is to ensure that the club has enough funds to continuously attend the various tournaments that we travel for. Ultimately, our goal is to attend NCVF Nationals every spring. We also want to have enough funds to ensure the longevity of the club so that we can still attend local tournaments in succeeding school years without worrying about having to fundraise early in the semester.
