Dallas Formula Racing is a student-led organization founded in 2014 by students with a passion for automotive engineering. The variety of our projects offers many opportunities for all students across the UTD campus. As a multidisciplinary student organization, we encourage student collaboration between the schools of Arts and Technology, Management, and Engineering and Computer Science.
We compete in the international Formula SAE competition hosted each year by the Society of Automotive Engineers. This competition challenges students to design, manufacture, and test the performance of a formula-style vehicle. By participating, our undergraduate and graduate students get prepared for their future careers by gaining skills beyond
engineering such as budgeting, communication, project management, resource management, fundraising, leadership, and teamwork skills. In the past, members have earned internships and full-time positions with companies such as SpaceX, Tesla, and Toyota.
Our team is currently raising funds for our 4th vehicle for the 2022 FSAE California competition. It will mark our 5th year competing and we hope to utilize feedback from industry professionals on our 2021 vehicle so our students can continuously improve our designs and techniques.
