Update to LFSA Comets Giving Days Page 2021
The mission of the Latino Faculty and Staff Association at UT Dallas is to build community by empowering Latino faculty and staff at all levels of the University to network, advance personally and professionally, and foster an inclusive workplace.
SUPPORTING OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION!
Access to role models and cultural representation in a University setting is essential for students to learn, grow and thrive throughout their academic careers. This 2021 Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latino Faculty & Staff Association (LFSA) would like to invite renowned Latinx author, Elizabeth Acevedo, to UTD for a virtual conversation on the complexities of the Latinx culture – family, race, gender, and the intersection of these identities.
Elizabeth Acevedo is a New York Times bestselling author and all-around fascinating storyteller of Latinx life and identity, especially of young people. She has won numerous awards for her works of PoetX, With the Fire on High, and her newest work, Clap When You Land. She is without a doubt an influential leader in the Literature community, which understands the struggles of young people today to define and locate their true selves in an ever-evolving society and world.
However, we need your support to cover a portion of the speaker fee for this virtual event in September 2021. To meet this ambitious goal for our University community, not only is LFSA contributing, but we have the support of the Vice President & Chief of Staff’s Office. They will match each gift, one-to-one, that we are able to raise.
Please make a gift TODAY in support of LFSA’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration featuring Elizabeth Acevedo and know that every contribution made will go twice as far!
