Those living in underserved communities are particularly vulnerable to the social, economic and related stressors challenging every aspect of daily life. The pandemic has magnified these stressors and has created more barriers to being able to access the necessary tools and strategies needed to maximize brain health. The Center for BrainHealth is uniquely positioned to better understand how to engage underserved communities in improving this issue. This effort is part of The BrainHealth Project, a long-term, large-scale interventional study designed to improve the brain health of adults and youth over the next 10 years. Your gift to the Center for BrainHealth via Comets Giving Day will allow 200 individuals from under-resourced communities in Dallas to learn the strategies necessary to improve their brain health, enhancing their overall well-being. They will take an online assessment called the BrainHealth Index, participate in self-paced online training modules, and have monthly telehealth supportive coaching sessions with individualized feedback and recommendations. Having the knowledge to improve factors like sleep, stress, social issues and learning can be life-changing for the neediest citizens of our community. Your support will allow us to give these individuals the tools they need to improve their brain health and increase health lifestyle behaviors, leading to greater employment opportunities, higher educational attainment, and overall better quality of life.
