Who we are
Originally established as UTD motorsports, our organization was created in 2014 by a small group of students looking to compete in the Formula SAE competition. In 2018, we rebranded as Dallas Formula Racing and competed for the first time at competition under our new name. Since then, we have designed and fabricated a Formula-style race car every year. Just last year, we competed internationally in the IC category and placed 29th overall internationally out of 120+ teams from all over the world. Today, our student-led team has grown exponentially and we proudly boast over 80+ active members, internal combustion and electric vehicle competition teams, a F1 tenth team focused on fully autonomous vehicle development, and over 20+ different subteams for each team.
What we do
Through competing in Formula SAE, our team is tasked with designing, fabricating, and driving a formula-style race car every year. While our organization is mainly focused on the field of racing and motorsports engineering - members build on the knowledge they gain through DFR by having access to unrivaled learning opportunities and hands-on experiences, allowing them to apply what they learn in the classroom in real-world settings, preparing them for the workforce and beyond.
Our team is composed of a diverse array of various majors, backgrounds, and skill sets. These differences come together to form a common ground between our team, thereby fostering a strong sense of teamwork that is at the heart of what we do. Each year, the finished race car is a testament to the team’s hard work, perseverance, and knowledge. Most of all, our team is proud of the growth we have been able to make as a team in terms of character, maturity, and leadership.

Last year, we were able to completely revolutionize and change our manufacturing process and change how we approach our design cycle thanks to your contributions! This year, in order to build off of this success and continue a sustainable cycle for building TWO new competition vehicles every year concurrently - we need your help. Your donations will directly support both IC and EV teams going to competition and continuing to create new, unrivaled opportunities for them to continue to learn and build off of these successes and build a sustainable future. By contributing, you are directly inspiring and providing the next generation of rising engineering with the tools they need to succeed!
