Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

We are Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) UTD, a student-led organization dedicated to empowering Hispanic and underrepresented students in STEM fields. Our mission is to promote academic excellence, professional development, and community outreach through a strong familia.

Our Goals for Comets Giving Days:

$1,000 – Sponsor travel and lodging for members to attend the SHPE National Convention, where they gain access to career fairs, professional workshops, and life-changing opportunities.

$500 – Provide registration fees for technical competitions and conferences that develop engineering and leadership skills.

$250 – Fund outreach events like Noche de Ciencias, where we inspire local K-12 students to pursue STEM.

iWeek Talent Show

Experience UT Dallas’ global spirit through music, dance, and more at the iWeek Global Talent Show. In partnership with UT Dallas Alumni, $700 in Comets Giving Days bonus funds will be split and awarded to top performers (1st, 2nd, 3rd). Doors open on April 10 at 6:30 p.m., first-come seating. Help the @UTDallasAlumni Instagram account reach 10,000 followers by April 7, 2026 and $500 in bonus funds will be gifted at random to one of our Comets Giving Days groups and announced on April 8. Help the account reach 11,000 followers by the close of giving days on April 8 and an additional $1,000 in bonus funds will be gifted at random and announced on April 9, 2026. Comets Giving Days/iWeek Service Week Event

Join us during iWeek for a hands-on volunteer event supporting future Comets! We’ll pack supply kits to help incoming international students feel welcomed and prepared as they settle in at UT Dallas. Each year, more than a thousand students arrive with limited belongings, and this event offers comfort and community. In partnership with Comets Giving Days, we’re uniting service and philanthropy. Hosted by UT Dallas Alumni, Office of Student Volunteerism, and Intercultural Programs. Passport to the World kicks off iWeek on April 6 with an international festival featuring food, music, and cultural showcases. Stop by the Plinth between 1-3 p.m. to vote for “Best in Show,” with $300 in Comets Giving Days bonus funds awarded. Visit the UT Dallas Alumni booth to learn about Comets Giving Days and enjoy snacks and giveaways.
