Manufacturing skills workshops prepare students for internships and careers by developing practical manufacturing awareness and hands-on competence. Through five progressive modules from first year through senior year, we teach workshop safety, basic hand tools, precision measurement, milling, turning and welding. Students gain essential knowledge for careers in manufacturing, mechanical design or any role that requires an understanding of how ideas become products. We have piloted this program to great success with strong endorsement from partner company representatives. Operating as standalone modules alongside traditional curricula, the program provides multiple touchpoints for effectiveness but is not funded through tuition and fees. Students completing all five modules are prepared to contribute immediately to design teams and manufacturing operations. Your support for equipment, supplies, a full-time machinist and instructional faculty is essential to serve up to 1,000 students annually, directly impacting graduate quality and readiness.
