The UT Dallas Student Emergency Fund supports undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled at least half-time at UT Dallas and are experiencing financial hardship due to an emergency, accident, illness, or other unanticipated life event. The Student Emergency Financial Assistance Program is managed by the Basic Needs Resource Center and offers emergency financial support based on the immediate needs of UT Dallas students.
The Student Emergency Financial Assistance Program was created to help Comets with unforeseen, short-term financial issues that, if not addressed, could prohibit a student from remaining enrolled and persisting towards graduation. Awards from the Student Emergency Fund are not required to be repaid.
Each academic year, over 50 students are awarded emergency funds to assist them in continuing their academic journey at UT Dallas. The Student Emergency Financial Assistance Program represents the resilience and generosity of the Comet spirit.
By supporting the UT Dallas Student Emergency Fund, you can assist UT Dallas students who are experiencing financial challenges such as:
- Housing and food insecurity
- Medical care and prescriptions
- Emergency travel costs
- Elimination of jobs and/or unexpected reduction of income
- Other unplanned expenses
