Interdisciplinary Studies

You’re weird. So are we.

Boasting the most customizable degrees on campus, the School of Interdisciplinary Studies offers students the opportunity to tailor a program for their academic and professional goals. Whether you know exactly what you want to do or need space to explore, our advisors can help you build the perfect curriculum for you. If you’re a nontraditional student with old credit hours, we can help you use them. If you’re a working student or parent (or both), we can help you develop a course of study with a flexible schedule. If you have a degree in mind you can’t find anywhere else, we’ll help you design it with our capstone major, Interdisciplinary Studies. Choose concentrations like Arts Management, Environmental Studies, Business Communication, or create your own.

We offer six undergraduate programs and one graduate. Our six undergraduate programs include a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Studies, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education. Moreover, our Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) gives students the flexibility to study from various schools and attain additional certificates while still earning a Master’s degree. Many of our MAIS students go on to start their own non-profits, lead vital health organizations, or continue their studies in research at the PhD level. Furthermore, the School of IS also has minors in various degree programs, such as American Studies, Environmental Studies, Healthcare Studies, and Gender Studies.

We’re raising funds to support four key areas that help our students thrive. Every dollar makes a difference.

1. Undergraduate Scholarships

Financial barriers shouldn’t stand in the way of students who are eager to learn. Donations to undergraduate scholarships provide direct support to students who need it the most.

2. Teacher Development Center

The Teacher Development Center (TDC) helps aspiring educators with hands-on experience, professional development, and the education they need to make a lasting impact in schools and communities. Your support will help them become the educators of tomorrow.

3. The School of IS

Interdisciplinary education offers students the opportunity to tailor a program for their academic and professional goals. A donation helps fund events and materials that raise awareness of our school on campus and beyond.

4. Gender Studies

The Gender Studies program encourages critical conversations about gender identity and culture. Your support will help fund our campus programming, such as the Gender Studies Lecture, that expands this important field.
